Strategic decisions are often made under conditions that make certainty impossible. Markets change, competitors respond, internal priorities conflict, assumptions prove unreliable, and the consequences of a decision may extend far beyond what is immediately visible.

A decision can therefore be analytically sound and still fail because the wrong question was asked, an important constraint was overlooked, an assumption went untested, or the organization was unable to execute what was decided.

The challenge is not simply to identify an attractive option. It is to understand the situation well enough to distinguish what is known from what is assumed, what can be influenced from what cannot, and which choices remain viable as circumstances change.
